  4. WRITERS' GUIDELINES FOR THE INK BLOTTER

  8. Thanks for your interest in writing for The Ink Blotter!
  9.  
  10. The Ink Blotter is part of INKSPOT (http://www.inkspot.com), a web resource
  11. for writers of all ages and levels of experience. The Ink Blotter is a place
  12. where hard-working writers can go for some light refreshment and
  13. inspiration -- sort of an iced coffee in some shade on a hot summer day.

  15. The Ink Blotter publishes online (http://www.inkspot.com/inkblot), updating
  16. content about once per week. We run an average of 4 to 8 pieces per month:
  17. short poems, short fiction, and essays/anecdotal pieces. All pieces must be
  18. related to the craft or business of writing. We welcome submissions from
  19. readers, and we are always looking for material that provides a refreshing
  20. perspective on the craft and business of writing -- humor, inspiration,
  21. anecdotes, and essays. Material should be suitable for a general audience.

  23. POETRY

  25. Please keep in mind that we are looking for HUMOROUS OR INSPIRATIONAL POETRY
  26. that has to do with the craft or business of writing.
  27.  
  28. Length: 4-8 lines preferred, longer pieces considered occasionally.
  29. Style: Rhyming preferred, but other formats are certainly considered. Please
  30. nothing too experimental, risquÄ, or overtly religious.
  31. Payment: $10/poem.
  32. Rights: First-time non-exclusive rights (i.e., you are free to sell your
  33. piece elsewhere as long as it appears on the Ink Blotter first).
  34. Submission: Send entire poem to Christopher Donner, Submissions Editor. Do
  35. not send more than THREE POEMS AT A TIME, and please include text directly
  36. in the body of the email (ASCII text). No attachments, please.

  38. SHORT FICTION OR ESSAY
  39. ----------------------
  40. Again, please remember that we are looking only for HUMOROUS OR INSPIRATONAL
  41. pieces that deal with the craft or business of writing. Pieces should be
  42. well written, but should avoid sounding too "literary" unless that is part
  43. of the humor.

  45. Length: 500 words maximum.
  46. Style: Material should be suitable for a general audience.
  47. Payment: $20/piece.
  48. Rights: First-time non-exclusive rights (i.e., you are free to sell your
  49. piece elsewhere as long as it appears on the Ink Blotter first).
  50. Submissions: Send entire story to Christopher Donner, Ink Blotter Editor. Do
  51. not send more than ONE STORY OR ESSAY AT A TIME, and please include text
  52. directly in the body of the email (ASCII text). No attachments, please.
